Readership Profile

I asked teenagers what they like about Pop music including their favourite artists.
I found out that more females are into pop music than males.
The most popular artists are Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Rihanna so I am going to include these three artists in my music magazine.
The target audience for my music magazine will be from young children to teenagers.
Also i found out that most teenagers watch X-Factor because it is a popular show for pop music and also special guests such as Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Rihanna have appeared on the show.
Also i found out that most teenagers rather buy songs from Itunes because it is quick and easy to put them onto IPODS or MP3 Players rather than buy them on Cd's.

From the interview, i can tell that Joanna Jarvis is a working class woman because she doesn't speak like she is upper class and she uses slang words like any other normal teenager from middle class to working class. Also the way she is dressed to suggests that she is not upper class otherwise she would wear a fancy dress but she is wearing clothes which relate to her personality.

Photoshoot for Music Magazine

 
I have planned to do a photoshoot using one of my friends as the main topic for the music magazine. and also taking a few pictures of one of my other friends as a secondary lead for the front cover of the magazine.
My friend Joanna posed several times for a variety of different pictures using different levels and angles to show a variety of differents shots. I took them using my mobile phone camera whilst we were at college. I told her to wear what she wanted because it gives a sense of style to who Joanna is and what she likes to wear but her clothes fit well with the magazine genre. i want the clothes to show the type of person Joanna is without using words.
My other friend wanted to wear sunglasses to show a sign of coolness for another article in the magazine and i also told him to wear whatever he wanted to show himself through clothes instead of words.
also i am going to include a picture of a musical instrument becuase i know my friend Joanna plays Guitar, Drums and Bass so it will work well with her and the article in the music magazine.
I will delete the background from each image because my magazine is just going to be plain white background but the colours will make the magazine attractive along with the pictures.

Advert Using Photoshop

This is the 1st attempt at the perfume advert that i was asked to do. Then i had a comment made on this advert that it can be improved if i cut out the pic of the perfume from its background so it hangs over the image. So i used the quick selection tool to cut around the image of the perfume and placed it back in the advert so it hangs over the background and moved the text to hover over the top of the picture of the perfume.

Results and Conclusion of the Questionnaires

I asked 5 college students to complete my questionnaire. The results i got back are similar in a way to some students prefer to shopping in cheaper shops like Primark to expensive shops like Debenhams. Also i found out that the moderate of students don't have any religious beliefs and that the students think that the government is rubbish. Also looking at the questionnaires, the students prefer to be themselves instead of copying an idol of theirs. They would donate to a charity, and they see themselves in a good paid job in about 10 years time. Also the students would like to see more music in the college magazine like local bands, also one student wrote down student views. The moderate of the students want to go to university. There is a mixed opinion on what party the student would vote for; one student wrote down none. Most of the students circled more than one music genre shows that they like different types of music, instead of one. The students during their spare time like to relax by watching TV, listening to music, playing games, one student is self teaching herself Japanese and playing guitar.

The magazine from the information i received would apply more to working class to middle class people because it relates more to them with music, careers and interests. Social grades- C2 and above.

So the conclusion that i have drawn up is that the college students like the college magazines to contain more stuff which they can relate to with music, university, and possibly television like recommended films to watch and student views about college.

Introduction

This is the first blog of my music magazine coursework project. Over the course of this blog, i will show you how i have been building up ideas for my music magazine.

I am particulary interested in pop genre music. Some of my favourite artists from this genre are Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, Christina Aguleria and The Saturdays. Also another genre i like is rock. Some of my favourite artist from this genre are Nickelback, Blink 182, GreenDay, Paramore, Linkin Park and Fall Out Boy.

The most natural choice of magazine for me to study is either the Kerrang or Q magazine depending on what genre i want my magazine to be based on which will probably be Pop because i prefer pop music.

Q magazine is magazine for teenager to adult audience.
